Let's do a book recommendation chain. You describe the book you want to read and people will recommend you something. 📚 I want something with a group of friends like you find in IT. I watched it yesterday and the portraying of friendship warmed my heart. It's something that I missed on when I was young and I'm sure I'm not the only one, since I'm sure only a couple of people get to experience it. Not fighting Pennywise, just that kind of friend group. 📚 And I also want something about a friendship between a guy and a girl. 📚 I wanted to go as Maleficent, I ended up becoming Rita from Power Rangers. I had some super busy days lately and I feel like it's going to get "worse". Not truly worse, because I'm always grateful when I have things to do. It's movement, it's activity, and I'd rather have that even though it means going out at 8AM and coming back at midnight, than not having anything to do. It's like making a choice. I'd rather make a bad choice and stick with it, adapt it or something, make it better in time, than not taking any chances. Sounds weird? I think I want to watch In The Tall Grass since I just read the short story with the same name by King and Hill and I loved it. And tomorrow and the day after tomorrow I'm gonna play some piano :)) why? You'll see. Tell me a good thing. Something positive. Something that made you happy, personal or not. 📚 This weekend I attented my very first TEDx. 2 speakers got standing ovations. 📚 One of them, Cristophe Debard, had cancer at a young age and lost both of his legs from knee down. He created a system so that people like him can get cool looking prosthetics at a super affordable price through 3D printing so that they wouldn't be ashamed of their disability. 📚 The other one, Alexandru Dima, talked about people doing good deeds in Romania, including the ones who are building the first (!) Paediatric Oncology and Radiotherapy hospital in Romania without any support from the Romanian state (!), using only donations from civil society and the private sector (!). (Ninjas cut onions there). 📚 I'm so glad I had the opportunity of listening to these (and all the other) speakers. I am guilty of getting lost in a selfish frame of mind sometimes, it's only human, but today and yesterday as well I was reminded that there are things bigger than us. And it also made me think of something that @shallonxo said - if you want to get rid of anxiety, volunteer. Work for something bigger than your own pocket. eBooks or physical books? | AD 📚 Honestly, if I could only read one of them for the rest of my life, I’d choose eBooks. Everyone loves the physical books, me included, but the eBooks are less expensive, take up less space and are less damaging to the environment. But with my eyesight going from top notch in 2015 to not that great now, I can’t deny that the hours spent on my laptop and phone are to blame, and with the additional strain that my old eReader put on my eyes, I decided that I should try an inkReader from @pocketbook. How did you fall in love with your favourite author? Recommend us a book by them. 📚 The first book by Stephen King that I’ve read was The Eyes of the Dragon, back when I didn’t know who Stephen King was. I didn’t like it. Then, having heard more about SK, I started Shining. I didn’t like it. Then I think I got to Pet Sematary, which was okish, and Carrie, which I reaaaally enjoyed, then Misery, which blew me away, then Gerald’s Game. Slowly I started to get the hype. The Stand was glorious. I loved IT. Add some more in between and then, having heard about The Dark Tower, I tried the first book. I hated it. I had to ask someone who recommended it if it’s worth continuing since The Gunslinger was sooo boring. He told me to try at least the sequel and decide after that. And boy oh boy. The Drawing of The Three sealed the deal for me in the same way in which the last paragraphs from A Game of Thrones made A Song of Ice and Fire my former favourite series. And this is how Stephen King became my favourite author. Aside from the writing style, the one thing that I found amazing was that most of his books are connected, are part of the same universe. I know there are a few other authors who are doing this (Brandon Sanderson and Sarah J Maas come to my mind now), but he was the first one for me. I found it so inspiring. To trust the worlds you are building so much that you want them to be connected, you want all of them… ❤❤❤TO❤SERVE❤THE❤BEAM.❤❤❤ 📚 Also, have you watched IT Chapter 2?
