Background
The Communication and Media Relations (CMR) office under the Head of Mission and Central Services Department is responsible for communicating messages to domestic and external audiences, as well as for increasing the awareness of the work of the Mission and the role of the OSCE. In addition, CMR monitors and reports on the processes in the media sphere and encourages pluralistic and independent media scene. With the purpose to increase CMR’s capacity, the Unit seeks to engage a Public Information and Media Assistant on a short-term basis

Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Public Information and Media Officer, the incumbent shall:
- Monitor domestic and international media on coverage for Mission’s activities and produce daily internal media summaries in English language for the senior staff of the Mission;
- Regularly liaise with journalists about Mission events and drafting answers from the Mission to media inquiries;
- Draft press releases, media advisories, news items, feature stories and input for the OSCE website and the Mission’s social media channels;
- Assist in the organization and coverage of public events;
- Act as a photographer for the Mission, taking photographs at important events to illustrate Mission’s activities;
- Monitors trends in the media and provides analysis on these trends to the senior staff of the Mission;
- Attends meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences related to media issues and represents the Mission at such events;
- Translates from English and Macedonian to Albanian and vice versa when necessary;
- Performs other duties as required.

Necessary Qualifications
The candidates should have the following minimum qualifications:
• Citizenship of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;
• Completed Secondary education, supplemented by training in media, public relations, and/or project management;
• Minimum 3 years working experience in media, public relations or any another related area;
• Strong report writing skills in English, including an ability to draft news-related documents and other reader-friendly and well-formatted documents as required;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Macedonian and Albanian language;
• Computer literacy with practical experience in Microsoft packages and Photoshop;
• Proven ability to work under pressure and respond to tight deadlines;
• Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
• Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
