Background
The USAID Business Ecosystem Project/Palladium International is looking for a Communications and Outreach Assistant which will be part of a learning process in the field of Communications and Outreach and will assist in the execution of the tasks bellow. BEP is engaged in market linkages to catalyze a significant increase in MSME growth, productivity, and employment. Within its year and a half-life of project, Palladium will bring transformative, sustainable change to North Macedonia’s business ecosystem at scale and under BEP, will pave the way for the market system to continue to function independently.

The overall goal of the project is to achieve Lead firms actively investing in local economic development activities, including developing their future workforce, helping suppliers reach standards, improve quality, introduce new technologies and know-how, support entrepreneurship and finance activities from municipal development plans.

Purpose of Position
The Communications and Outreach Assistant will assist with the development and implementation of the communications plan and related project communications tools and disseminate these to inform key audiences as well as the client of project progress and successes. The position would be for a period of 8 months.

Roles and Responsibilities
o Assist in the development of project deliverables, including information gathering for weekly, quarterly, annual reports and annual work plans, one-pagers, reports, etc.
o Assist in developing drafts for the monthly and quarter reports.
o Developing internal and external communications documents such as staff meeting minutes (weekly), event briefers, decision memos, etc.
o Support the Communications Manager in the managing the Project’s vocational careers promotion campaign.
o Assisting Grants Under Contract with their communications and outreach materials and Public Relations documents.
o Assisting with due diligence relating to ensuring appropriate branding and marking for all communications tools.
o Assisting in the design and roll out of all tools to effectively communicate project activities and results, (i.e., website, videos, visual images, social media messages, press releases, flyers, etc.).
o Maintaining project library of all communications tools, photos, and events in a digital format.
o Assisting in managing media relations for the project, including targeted publicity for project activities and responses to queries from press.
o Writing press releases, organizing press conferences, scheduling interviews of spokespersons for the project, etc.
o Preparing social media materials for USAID and BEP social media tools including but not limited to: designing and implementing social media messages, development of BEP social media strategy and supervising social media content related to the project activities and partners
o Review news for digital clipping booklet highlighting the work of the project and partners, for accuracy and maintaining positive image of the project.
o Attending and contributing USAID DOC meetings and maintaining a close and collaborative relationship with USAID and the U.S. Embassy teams on all outreach and communications efforts.
o Support development of project events and workshops in collaboration with project teams (prepare agenda, invitation, registration lists, adequate equipment, media materials, documenting highlight, photos and videos and translation etc.)
o Development of success stories for each quarterly report.
• All other duties as deemed necessary, including assisting the Communications Manager and Chief of Party as required.

Position Requirements
• Fluency in English with excellent writing and public speaking skills in English
• Bachelor’s degree in communications/PR or social sciences
• A minimum of 1 year experience in outreach/PR
• Experience with international organizations will be considered an asset.
